We want to challenge you to skip yet another New Year’s resolution. Instead, pledge your time and resources for your people – your most valuable asset. As we turn the page on another year and welcome the excitement of 2025, it’s far too easy to have gotten lost in the hustle and bustle of the Holiday season wrap-up.

Maybe you’ve been deep in year-end financials, employee reviews, 2025 planning or covering for all the PTO and vacations that come with this season. As you lay down your pen, sit back, and let out a sigh of relief that you’ve made it through 2024 and 2025 planning is complete (and then briefly feel the anxiety of putting it all into motion), have you thought about your employees and their 2025 goals?

You should – they’ve been planning too! As your team is an integral part of your business growth, you too are an integral part of their individual growth. So, what goals did they set for 2025? How can you support them in achieving those? Yes, we have to be careful to not bring personal life into work, but we found when we talked with our HR-Rethought team that many of their goals can in fact be supported by the business.

One of those goals, from our HR Coordinator, Alyssa Bender, is to be “Present and Connected”

“In 2024, I commit to being more present and connected in my daily life. I will focus on truly experiencing each moment, whether it’s spending time with loved ones, engaging in conversations, or simply appreciating the world around me. I will practice mindfulness and create space for genuine connection by actively listening and showing empathy. I will reduce distractions and give my full attention to the people and experiences that matter most. My goal is to deepen my relationships, nurture my well-being, and embrace the present with gratitude and intention.”

When asked how HR-Rethought can support her:

“Helping me maintain a healthy work-life balance, especially when things get busy, would make a big difference. It would allow me to be fully present at work, while also being mindful of my personal time!”

Mallory Tesreau, one of HR-Rethought’s Recruiters, pledges this for the New Year: “Fewer Opinions, More Curiosity”

“As the new year begins, I’m embracing a resolution that feels a bit challenging, but freeing: to have fewer opinions and grow more in my curiosity. It’s easy to slip into the comfort of certainty, but this year, I want to step back and ask more questions. Instead of rushing to conclusions, I’ll look to understand different perspectives, listen deeply, and explore the ‘why’ behind the things I encounter. It’s not about silencing my voice, but expanding my horizons. Here,s to a year of learning, growing, and being open to the unexpected! Happy New Year!”

She’d like support from HR-Rethought by:

“Offering continuous learning opportunities, collaborative problem solving, and supporting personal as well as professional growth!”

None of these seem like asks that are too big!

Will we have to dig a little deeper and present tangible action items to support our teams with their goals? Absolutely. It’s worth it. Take the time to make it happen. They support your growth and “make it happen” when presented with business obligations – support their growth, take care of them. Your People are your most valuable asset!

Pledge to your people that you will actively encourage and support them in and out of work this year. Are you up for the challenge?
